Today’s Friday 5 is inspired by people. Architecture is dictated by people, their movements, and how they use it. People inspire Architecture so Architecture can inspire People.
Land of the Giants: Winners of the 2010 Boston Society of Architects Unbuilt Architecture Award.
The idea that these electrical towers could be considered aesthetically in addition to functionally says a lot about what could be done with our infrastructure projects – and the added whimsy of the chosen forms [giants!] is extremely entertaining. It would be great if we could consider the fact that we have to look at these things when building our electrical grid, or highways, etc. – and then have a little fun with them.
The intention of "bodies in urban spaces" is to point out the urban functional structure and to uncover the restricted movement possibilities and behaviour as well as rules and limitations.
By placing the bodies in selected spots the interventions provoke a thinking process and produce irritation. Passers-by, residents and audience are motivated and prompted to reflect their urban surrounding and their own movement behaviour and habits. It further invites the residents to walk their own city thus establishing a stronger relationship to their neighbourhood, district and town.

Spencer Tunick’s photography is widely known. He has photographed thousands of nude people in most major cities; all of them interacting with a monumental piece of Architecture. The Opera House’s original concept of floating clouds further comes alive as it hovers over the 5,000+ people.
On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 People froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station. What happens when people use a space in a different way than it was originally intended?
